Trim the Fat, Then Marinate

Then marinate some more! Trimming the fat from your cuts of meat will reduce flame-ups on the grill and cut back on the crispiness of your steaks, chops, etc. After you’ve done that, marinate the meat in whatever dressing you choose – don’t be afraid to get adventurous – for at least 12 hours to ensure that your chops will remain juicy and flavorful throughout the cooking process.

Clean Your Grill

Seems obvious, but cleaning your grill before and after every cookout will eliminate the meaty residue on the grates that often lead to flame-ups and over-charring. Using grill enhancements like the Mangrate make for an easier cooking/cleaning process.

Oil Your Grilling Surface

Right before you start grilling, lightly coat your grates with some olive oil to reduce sticking. This will drastically decrease the amount of charred mammal flesh that lingers on the grill for years.

Turn Up The Heat

When you are ready to start grilling, turn up the heat on your grill. By searing the outer layers of the meat, the juices and flavors absorbed during the marinade process get locked in and guarantee every bite will be a tasty one.

Humidity Is Good

If possible, leave a pan of water or some other vessel of liquid (i.e. beer can) near the heat source. The increase in humidity helps to keep the meat moist during the cooking process. The Moistly Grilled Grill Humidifier is one such perfect addition to your grilling arsenal.

Do not Fear the Thermometer!

Even the most seasoned grill masters use a thermometer to gauge the temperature of the meat. Guessing often leads to over-cooked chops that leave your guests feeling as if they have just chewed through a rubber tire. Also remember: the meat will continue to cook even after you remove it from the grill, so pull it a few degrees before your desired temperature.

Do not Over-Handle the Meat! (TWSS)

This is extremely important! Flipping, flattening and folding the meat will only dry-out and depreciate the quality of your grilled food. Always take a less-is-more approach: less handling means more flavor!

Enjoy!

Backyard cookouts are as much about the food as they are about the people who gather together to enjoy it. Perfectly grilled grub means nothing if there’s nobody around to savor it. Call up some buds and get grilling now!
