1. Pick Your Lot

I’m a Jetro lot kind of guy but that doesn’t mean you have to be. Maybe I prefer the scenic view of I-95 or maybe I love the lowest price, but Jetro is the lot for me. FDR Park is always nice for actual scenic views but it requires a further walk to the stadiums. Here’s the best diagram around for picking a lot.

2. Pick your refreshments

Cold drinks, whether they be adult-only beverages or not, are key. If you’re really feeling ambitious, pack the old grill into the car and cook up some hamburgers and hot dogs for the ultimate experience. Remember condiments; people will never forgive you if there’s no ketchup to go with their grilled goodies.

3. Pick Your Games Wisely

Cornhole, beer pong and ladder golf are the established classics but require some work to either buy or build. At least bring your wiffle ball bat and ball. But definitely be sure to check out our Top 10 Lawn Games list to cover your bases.

4. Pick your entertainment

I’m sure the back and forth banter with your buddies is quite amusing, but adding some music is always appreciated. Though your car stereo may be bumpin, killing your car battery (and asphyxiating your crew with fumes) will hinder your good time. Bring a boombox (or if you're in the 21st century, an iPod dock). Also, extra batteries. No one wants to mid-way through a Hall & Oates when the sound dies out.

5. Actually Get to the Game

People can get carried away with their tailgate fun so try to clean up early and get walking to the stadium 15 minutes prior to the start of the game. That should be plenty of time to see the beginning of the game and maybe even catch an epic national anthem.
